Nikon TC14E II 1.4X Teleconverter

by uniq , Dec 9, 2006
Pros: Stunning results when used on the right lens.
Cons: reduced DOF, poor zoom performance, only works with BIG-$$$$$ lenses.
The Bottom Line: The TC14E II is an awesome addition to a 300mm fixed focal length lens and delivers surpisingly good results. It works poorly with zooms.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: The Nikon TC14E II is Nikon latest incarnation of its 1.4X teleconverter. It differs only cosmetically from the earlier TC14E and both can be considered interchangeable.

Nikon TC17E-II teleconverter

by uniq , Dec 12, 2006
Pros: Great compromise between the TC20's long reach and the TC14E's low light loss
Cons: Sharp results REQUIRE excellent technique. Focus hunting on F/4 lenses
The Bottom Line: Not as sharp as the TC14E-II but still a strong performer that is better than many stand alone lenses
