Hewlett Packard Photosmart C4180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

The printing quality is great, and the scanner works very well. I have had two problems though.

Problem one is the driver support for the Apple Mac OS X 10.4.8. The installer is broken and the printer cannot be installed. Both the included CD and the downloadable driver from the website fail to install. Calls to HP resulted in the discovery that HP is testing their drivers against Mac OS X 10.4.6 and they are two operating system updates behind. I purchased an HP Deskjet 6980, and it had the same problems. In short, HP isn't paying attention to the Apple user's and you shouldn't buy this product for use with an Apple computer.

Problem two is the ink cartridges. When the product arrives, there are two ink cartridges. Color on the left, and black on the right. If you decide to install a Photo Quality Color ink cartridge, it must go into the right slot where the black toner was originally. Placing the Photo quality cartridge on the left results in an unuseable printer, and the cartridge can not be removed without destroying the printer. Best buy was nice enough to replace my printer. Beware!!
