Author's Review
Progress in HP terms usually means more features and lower quality. I purchased this to replace the OfficeJet All-In-One 6110 which was a workhorse. In fact, if you can find the 6110, grab it. However, I was lured by the one benefit that the 6310 has, viz, the built-in printer driver. This allows you to connect it to the network using a standard RJ45 Ethernet Cable, rather than connecting it to a server via a USB cable. The advantage is that if the server goes down, other machines can still print directly to the printer.
Oh yes, it does have one other slight advantage over the 6110, in that it is somewhat smaller footprint.
However, after using it for a couple of months now, the slight benefits do not outweigh the deficiencies.
For one, it appears to be of much shoddier manufacture.
Second, the distance between the paper feed and paper catcher is so narrow that you always have to take the paper catcher off in order to put in new paper, special forms, checks, etc.
Thirdly, the paper feed mechanism clearly has a problem because the blasted thing jams frequently and most of the printing is slightly skewed.
So, in the final analysis, I wish I still had my old 6110. There is no reason at all to buy the 6310.
