Returned two defective keyboards
Date of Review: Jan 12, 2008
The Bottom Line: Try one out in a store first. If it is comfortable then buy it. Make sure that the keys work properly.
The spacebar should have been split in half. Pressing it at a comfortable typing position usually doesn't feel like it triggers it well and it seems to miss frequently. Try it out an in-store demo first! It feels like trying to press a key from the very edge.
The U key and M key on the first keyboard rarely worked even when pressed firmly and directly on the center of the key. I could live with the spacebar issue, but not having usable keys was a big issue. The first keyboard from Amazon was returned and the second was purchased from Office Depot.
The second keyboard had an even worse U key problem where it either wouldn't work or it would "get stuck" and type the U character by itself such as: uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. I thought that the first was a lemon and then the second made me think that it might be my PC. To verify whether it was a local PC problem I plugged the second keyboard into a co-worker's PC (who already had this keyboard and loves it) and the exact same problem happened with my keyboard, so the issue wasn't just on my PC. I think that both of my purchases may have been from a defective batch, but at this point I probably wouldn't buy it again since returns are time consuming.
The layout and feel of the keyboard is very comfortable. Some keys are not the standard size, so pressing them without looking at the keyboard may take some getting used to.
If either of the two purchased products had working U keys I would have kept they keyboard and dealt with the spacebar issue.
The spacebar and U key issue made they keyboard unacceptable.
