Large Screen short learning curve

The Plenio system is large (7" screen) and well built.  The controls and features, as extensive as they are- are easy/simple to use.

The unit can play MP3 music, display pictures as well as videos, and has a very addictive game also built in.  Unfortunately- like other competitive units- you can only use one feature at a time.

As a GPS, I found the Plenio to be as quick as other brands I have used.  The display is similarly as detailed.  The units 'voice' is quite pleasant- though it does not announce street/road names as the more expensive ones will.  It does announce distance to turn in 700, 500 and 100 yard alerts- which can be helpful- tho also annoying on shorter journeys.  

One of the units short comings (until YOU learn to compensate) is announcing alerts ("turn left/right") well before you actually get to the turn...  No problem on Highways or long blocks, but on short blocks and exits tightly grouped together- you might find yourself making your turns prematurely...(which is why some of the previous posters went the wrong way!)  The large screen of course can verify your correct route, and once you get used to the premature directive you find yourself adjusting effectively...  Again this only happens if there tightly close alternatives- but it is an issue to be alert for.

Another issue I had- was that there was no in-home charging device for MY unit....so no programing could be done unless I am plugged into the car...a definite deficiency- but an inexpensive adapter is probably available at your local Radio Shack.

The windshield suction mount is metal and massive which frankly I appreciate since I have broken a number of the plastic mounts that came with other brands.     

If you have a smaller car- this large GPS might block some of your vision, so be aware that bigger is not always better.

All in all- a useful device that I would not hesitate to use, now that I have gotten use to its particular peculiarities.
