Product Review

Defective Product and Poor Customer Service :(

by   consumer2u ,   Nov 19, 2007

Pros:  Eh... it looks good sitting next to my other stuff that actually works?

Cons:  It Does Not Work. Too expensive to repair. Doesn't work. Doesn't work. Doesn't work...

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

The Everio CU-VD10 I own NEVER worked out of the box so I can't speak to how well it works. I bought it to use with my Everio MG-505 camcorder. The camcorder works well, so well that it took longer than 3 months to make it worth burning a DVD. That's when I discovered the motor is unable to gain enough speed to read/write discs.

JVC's Customer Support makes it nearly impossible to speak with a live person. I followed their voice prompts in circles until I ultimately selected the option to "track my repair order" (which never existed). Upon speaking to a Service Rep. I was informed it would cost nearly as much to repair the burner (after Labor plus shipping and handling) as it would be to purchase a new burner. The Parts Warranty was still covered.

Why on earth would I re-pay the full retail price to repair a faulty product or even consider repurchasing another JVC DVD burner when the first one never worked?!?! That said, I'm looking at the Sony burners now.
