Frigidaire FAC126P1 Thru-Wall/Window Air Conditioner

A couple of years ago, my central air unit went out and I had to look real quick for a window air-conditioning unit. Because, it was going to take a while for the repair man to get to us. We were having a bad string of a hundred degree plus days. I am not the type to let my animals suffer in that kind of heat. That was when a friend of mine told me about this air-conditioning unit that he had just sitting around and was not using it. He had informed me that it was only a couple of years old, and they only used it once. I asked him how much he would sell it to me for an he told me to just give him $150 and we would call it even. For the most part, all I wanted it for was to cool one room of the house. This is pretty easy to install all I had to do, was make sure that the air conditioner would fit in the window, open it up and set it up in the window, making sure not to let go of the air conditioner, then close the window back on top of the air conditioner, making sure that the louvers reached all the way to each of the sides. Then all we did was plug it in and turn it on and away we went.

Experience
My friend was right, he told me that he had not used it. He gave me the manual for it and everything, it also came with a remote control, which looked like it was still in the plastic. It only took a few minutes, for the air conditioner to start blowing out cold air. We would leave this run for hours on end, and it would just about freeze us out of the room. Sometimes, I am a little leery about buying things off of my friends but after seeing the condition of this air conditioner. I knew that this would not be a bad deal. The room that we were using this in was approximately 12 feet at 12 feet. The manual says that it will cool rooms up to 640 ft.?. If you don't know the actual size of your room, just to give you an idea of this, it will cool a medium to large room.

Features or Controls
This Air Conditioner is a through the wall or window type, and it has a cooling capacity of 12,000 BTU per hour, with a energy efficiency rating of 10.8, this also has several fan speeds for cooling. The louvers on the front top of this air conditioner will move from right to left and up and down and there is a reusable filter that you should take care and cleaning. The cooling system operates in ranges from 60 to 90 and there is an air flow of 295 ft.? per minute. There are some other features that should be mentioned, the fan has a variable speed, there is a 24 hour on\off timer, you also have an eight way air direction control. This also comes with a remote control with all of the electronic controls on the remote. Now for the people that have bad allergies there is an electrostatic clean air filtration system on this unit. To ensure proper operation this unit has a low voltage compensation technology that will detect fluctuation in voltage. This also had a quick window pleated mounting kit. For those people who like to go to sleep with the air-conditioning on. This also has a sleep mode so that you can go to sleep at the air conditioner will shutdown automatically instead of running on all night. The remote control that comes with the air conditioner is a temperature sensing, remote control. This full function remote will also act as a thermostat.


Size and Electrical
You have to be careful with this, because this does weigh approximately 80 pounds outside of the box. To decide what window you're going to put this in, you have to check and make sure you have a minimum of 15 inches of clearance and a maximum of 23 to 36 inches. This way the air conditioner will set properly inside the window. The actual cabinet depth with the front on, is 19 3/4". The cabinet height is 14 ? inches and the cabinet width is 19 inches. In case you were wondering. All you need is 115 volt outlet, a regular household outlet will do, this only draws 10.2 amps while cooling.

Cleaning
The filter on the front of this is a tilt out filter access so that is very easy to clean. You will definitely have to clean this, because if the filter gets clogged, it will cut down on the airflow to the output of your room. Also, if you did not clean the filter the inside of the air conditioner will get clogged up. So it is very pertinent that you can keep this clean. This unit is very durable to an extent, just make sure you keep the kids away from all the nice little buttons on the front of this.

Warranty
As for the warranty, it looks to be a two-part warranty. You get one year from the original date of purchase. Basically, they will pay all costs for parts and labor. But after that there is a two-five year warranty for this sealed system. What I mean by sealed system is the refrigerant system, compressor, evaporator, and tube. Once you get into that 2-5 year warranty. You usually have to pay for all the expenses on getting it diagnosed.

Final Conclusion
I love the fact that you can control this unit all from the remote. It was money well spent, and it cooled our room in a very speedy manner. Plus I like the remote, because it will also tell you when to check the filter and it will also tell you how much is left before you have to clean it. This air conditioner is very dependable, since we have had the central air unit repaired. We decided just to leave the air-conditioning unit in the window that way we do not have to run the central air unit as much.
