There is a Lot Going on in Your Big Backyard!

Date of Review:  Apr 8, 2003
The Bottom Line: An educational and entertaining magazine with a format that will appeal to kids 3-7. The subscription price is lower than other, similar magazines.
Review: We have had a subscription to Your Big Backyard for a couple of years. It is a great magazine for a lot of children because its broad format is likely to contain something to interest your child. The broad mix includes animal facts, stories and...

Your Big Backyard Doesn't Have Animals Like This

Date of Review:  Aug 10, 2006
The Bottom Line: I like Your Big Backyard and think most kids will too.
Review: Your Big Backyard is a nature magazine aimed at kids in the vicinity of 4-8 years old. It's mostly but not entirely focused on animals (some small bits of some issues are about plants instead), usually animals your kids will only see at a zoo. More...

I've Got A Whale In My House!

Date of Review:  Dec 27, 2000
Review: Have you ever seen the breaching of a whale so close up that you swear the water is going to come pouring down? If you have the December issue of Your Big Backyard, then you know what I'm talking about. Big, huge, giant, gigantic, enormous whales...

Sadly, Not As Good As Expected

Date of Review:  Jan 31, 2008
The Bottom Line: Big Backyard IS better than the competition. It seems best for a Kindergarten age kid - there's little for younger kids, and older kids will prefer NG Kids.
Review: I had hoped Your Big Backyard would be like its sister mag for younger kids, Wild Animal Baby, which was captivating for both my son and daughter up to about age 3 to 3-1/2.

The two mags, both published by National Wildlife Federation, aim...

You Otter Order This Beautiful Magazine

Date of Review:  Jul 18, 2001
The Bottom Line: Final recommendation is that I love this educationally scientific magazine and enjoy reading it to children.
Review: "What?s that?" asks Chester Chipmunk. That?s the back of Your Big Backyard cover with a photo or drawing of an animal on it and Bonnie Bluebird telling us some facts about the animal. This is just one of the features in my four and a half-year-old...

We got an offer in the mail last year about this time offering us a...
