Author's Review

I have subscribed to Workbench magazine for several years now. I really enjoy reading this publication. It seems geared toward homeowners rather than hardcore woodworkers.
The articles in this magazine cover many things useful to the homeowner. There is a section called Questions and Answers where readers submit questions concerning problems they have encountered in the home. Editors respond with solutions to these problems. The answers are very well written and illustrated for clarity.
Tips and Techniques gives readers a forum to let other homeowners know about simple techniques to accomplish common tasks in the shop or around the home. News and Events notifies readers of contests such as National Furniture Refinishing Contest, Oldest Toll contest, and so on. The reader is also kept up to date with new technology available to the homeowner.
There are articles that help the homeowner remodel or repair the home. They are geared to the average "Joe". Language is clear and illustrations and photos demonstrate the subject well. Examples would be how to frame dormers, how to frame an addition, installing various flooring materials, and many others.
There are also articles on how to build small household items such as spice racks, built-in storage, shelving, etc. There are also jigs and things useful in the shop.
Articles covering products for the home are also included. These help homeowners choose the proper materials or products for a given improvement remodel. There are also tool comparisons in each issue. It helps homeowners choose the tool that best suits our needs.
One section called Tool and Shop Gear covers tools specifically for use in the shop to help make jobs easier.
Overall, Workbench is a terrific magazine for the home handyman. It will be useful and informative for homeowners. I highly recommend it. It covers a wide range of info for use around the home.
