Written by Your Neighbors -- and Maybe Even YOU!!

Date of Review: Aug 8, 2000

It is absolutely amazing how much great info they pack into this wonderful little magazine. Attractive and colorful, this is one of the few magazines I consider worth reading cover-to-cover. Once I get started on this, I can't put it down! And with its "paper-thin" cover, this magazine can be folded, stuck into a purse, etc. so you can carry it right along with you... I love to take it to the laundromat!

No "heavy" reading here... just lots and lots of mostly very short articles, many of which you could almost have written yourself. That's because... much like the "personality" of epinions... most of Woman's World was written by people just like you and me. People with stories of love and healing... anecdotes about their lives which will leave you feeling almost as if you know them personally -- or certainly would like to. It is "homey" -- yet very modern and timely; and it never contains "smut" or anything suggestive... safe to leave right out on the coffee table where your kids can see it!

Regular Sections include:

Fashion and Beauty

Includes regular sections on clothing, usually featuring a particular color or colors each week... blue and gray, for example... and showing you how to combine them for a lovely effect, and what is best for your skin tone.

Also includes sections on makeup, hot new trends, how to apply correctly... lots of information about the latest in cosmetics.

There are also regular features on weight loss, workout tips, and the like. Often it is a story written in by a reader...complete with tips as to how they did it, sample recipes and even meal plans.

Real Life Stories

Included in this group are everything from stories of how women "followed their dreams" and successfully started their own businesses... to testimonies of medical miracles... to items shared of incredible rescue operations by "ordinary" people. Mothers write in about their children... children write in about their mothers... friends write in about their friends. It is very heartwarming to read of these special happenings in people's lives.

Features

Articles about safety... marriage enrichment tips... and much much more. In this week's issue there is a two-page article about eBay featuring women who have used this site to earn hundreds of dollars and in many cases, quit their jobs to pursue this as a career. (As an eBay "addict" I could personally relate to this one! There will undoubtedly be something you feel a special bond about!)

One of my regular "favorites" in this section is the "Getaway" feature. Two full-size pages of colorful pictures, with information, about a specific town or city. Captioned "A nice place to visit... or would you want to live here?" this always makes me want go there... regardless of where "there" is. :-)

Celebrities

Articles on specific celebrities, such as how they lost weight; and sometimes very creative features. This week was about "Lifestyles of the Furry and Famous" -- famous dogs such as Lassie, Benji, Rin Tin Tin and several others.

Home and Family
Includes such things as how to make your home more attractive; how to organize and become more efficient. Often contains instructions for wonderful craft projects which you can share with your family.

Your Good Health

Information about things which could be health hazards... example (this week) hidden dangers of tap water in some cities. Natural remedies for many health problems.

Food and Nutrition

This can be a tough one to get through :-) as you read all the wonderful recipes... and force yourself to "move on" to the low-fat section and the WW Diet Club. But there is a "little bit of everything" so that just about everyone can find something they can use.

Expert Advice

Subsections include:

*Your Money
*Chicken Soup for the Soul
*Ask the Psychologist
*Your Rights
*www.Web Smarts
*House Call
*Good Parenting
*Ask Richard Simmons
*Others which vary

Etc.

Subsections include:

*Romantic Short Story
*Personality Quiz
*Mini Mystery
*Puzzle of the Week
*Editorial Page
*Your Beautiful Baby (readers send in photos, get paid $100 if used)
*Last Laugh

I especially love this "Last Laugh" section, which has a few cartoons... but my favorites are "Kids Say the Cutest Things" ($50 pay) and "Was My Face Red" (50). (Jokes pay $25 if used.)

Oh... and did I mention this incredible magazine sells for the low cost of $1.25 per issue, and is generally sold in the grocery store checkout lanes... better yet, you can go to their website and receive a 20% discount for subscribing online! If interested, please go to:

https://www.kable.com/BauerSubs/WomansWorld/subDom.asp.

Amazingly enough, Woman's World carries very little advertising! I counted in this week's issue and found a total of six... yes six pages of ads (counting the back cover). With Woman's World you are not reading "advertising" -- you are reading pure content!!

This one really is "a lot for a little." I hope this encourages you to check it out!!!
