Poor design and performance
Date of Review: Aug 24, 2008
The Bottom Line: I would recommend going with a higher end model
This dishwasher came preinstalled by the builder in the home I purchased less than 1 year ago. I would not recommend this model. The noise level is acceptable, but the pump starts and stops several times throughout the wash cycle as part of its normal operation. The interior design is terrible. There are no flip-down holders in the upper rack for wine glasses, etc. The upper rack is also not height adjustable. The tines on the lower rack are tight together and uniformly spaced with none of them being lowerable: This makes it very difficult for loading much other than plates and shallow bowls without taking up too much space. The silverware basket is absolutely worthless: It either has to mount to the door, making it difficult to load without removing it. The other option is to "balance" it on these cheap clips attached to the lower rack where it virtually always falls off and goes crashing to the floor when unloading. The other problem with the location is that you have to watch the height of utensils put on one side otherwise they'll block the detergent dispenser from opening. The wash performance is marginal at best, many items often need to be rewashed by hand or ran through a second time. Previously I owned a Kenmore Elite dishwasher which was manufactured by Whirlpool - Although it cost a lot more than this unit, it by far had a better design and performance. I'm just waiting for this unit to break down, hopefully soon, so I have an economical reason to replace it.
