Whirlpool LHW0050PQ Front Load Washer

I purchased this washer for all of the right reasons, stainless steel drum, electronic smart controls, EnergyStar rating; efficiency in use and space. The appearance of the washer and matching dryer were appealing as well. However, for the seven months I have owned it, the washer has never properly worked. It seldom starts the first 8-10 times you push the start button. The spin cycle will not spin. Four different techs from two service companies have attempted to repair it. The unit apparently has two motor control boards, both have been replaced once, one twice. The start push buttons have been replaced once. The bearing assembly, which is referred to as the cover, has been replaced once and still sounds like a two cylinder engine with a bad rod. Parts orders have taken up to four weeks, however the bearing assembly did show up in two days. The techs have nothing good to say about it except for the stainless steel drum.

Whirlpool has been very difficult. Until recently they wouldn't discuss replacing the machine, as they believed the new parts would repair it. The techs have indicated there is over $1500 of repair charges to date. The WP reps are one dimensional in their solutions of this problem and apparently have no authority to negotiate customer satisfaction. They have finally agreed to replace the machine with the same model, to which I responded I would not consider purchasing this machine again, why would I request another just like it? I have also experienced terribly wrinkled cloths from the matching dryer. WP says its not the dryer fault, but mine or possibly the washer, so it is not a current concern. I am currently looking for another 24" compact by a different manufacturer, WP may reimburse me my original cost. However, then I have a mismatched set, something I thought I had outgrown decades ago.
