A geography teacher's best friend

Where in the World is Carmen San Diego is one of the best games I ever played throughout grammar school in respact to educational software. Children are enticed by their ability to play the role of a detective as they visit all the famous cities and landmarks within the game. The thrill of moving up the ranks as a detective and the desire to capture the mastermind Carmen Sandiego herself glue children to the screen, and, though this is not their main goal, they learn throughout the game.

This game includes all the major landmarks and cities in its exciting journeys about the world and even resistant learners like myself jump to geography books and encyclopedias to discover the country or city that bears the artifact or flag in question. This wonderful software incites a desire to learn from children which the classroom is not able to. This is one of the rare cases in which a video game may become a teacher's best friend.
