Author's Review
WWF War Zone is a pioneer in pro wrestling video games. Following WCW's World Tour, the highly anticipated War Zone game is much better than any of those. It has a great engine and great graphics. The way you do moves is good- combinations of buttons, not just pressing one button to do a move. Usually, the more powerful move requires more button presses in a short amount of time, and you have to really know how to do the move in order to pull it off. The music could be better, it sounds like somebody put a pillow over a MIDI player when they recorded the entrance music. The entrances are terrible, too. However, compared to even WCW Revenge, which came out after War Zone, it's still much better. WWF's Attitude, released over a year later, is not much better than War Zone. Attitude uses the same engine, and has a few more things that you can specify (like clothing and match type), but it's basically the same game. What's bad about War Zone? War Zone has mostly wrestlers that retired or defected before the game came out, and the button combos are hard. But War Zone will definitely set the stage for great games to come.
