I can fly!

Background information:

Well I debated and debated whether to purchase this or not for my child. On the one hand, it seemed geared to younger children ages 4 and under. On the other hand, it seemed educational and she was really into globes and geography. So it took me 10 times going to the store and playing with it and 6 months of debating before I finally did purchase it. And I still was not sure about it until she actually started playing with it.


Description:

This Vtech Fly and Learn Globe stands about 14 inches high and about 11 inches wide. This toy consists of a globe with a plane, pilot, and little eyepiece type of thing to let the child know where the plane is landing, as well as controls on the bottom, on/off button, and a handle to drive the plane around the globe.

There are different modes of play: My First Atlas which will tell where the plane lands and possibly a fact about the place. Find Our Friends which lets your child hear how children in other countries speak in their native languages. Quiz Time has questions about places around the world. Flight Adventure where the child flies to different parts of the globe. Music & sounds talks about each country's music and national songs. The globe has raised parts that show different landmarks in each country and how people dress there. It is made by V-tech Electronics who make the best toys!

Likes:

I enjoy that the noise level is not ear piercing and the batteries have lasted and lasted. We have had this toy for over a year and not changed the batteries yet. It is great that there are different modes of play so my child does not get bored with it. My child enjoys the challenging games and does not get frustrated the way I do when I can't land the plane where the modes of play have directed me to.

My child also has learned to say hello in Chinese and French from the Vtech Fly and Learn Globe. That is amazing! The sound of flying that this toy has is great too! Great educational toy so the child learns about children in other parts of the world. Children who visit our home are drawn to the Vtech Fly and Learn Globe. They love to fly the plane around the globe. It is sturdy and has withstood falling to the floor and being bounced off the walls a number of times.

Dislikes:

It does seem like it should be geared to older children as I do not know if younger children would be able to play the games. Younger children could fly the plane. It is difficult to land the plane exactly where you want to land it. The control stick makes it go too far over sometimes.

Buy it! Educational and fun, what is not to love?
