Lots of gadgets, poor quality

This Vtech cordless phone is very impressive to look at. With its full color LCD display, and the ability to download custom display photos and ringtones, it sounds like Vtech are trying to make this home phone into a cellular phone. How many home phones come with USB cables to connect to your computer?

The problem is that once you get past the bells and whistles and stop staring at the pretty color pictures, the quality of this phone is pretty poor. Reception is not that great. It picks up a lot of noise and interference where other 5.8 GHz phones don't.

Sound quality of the voice on phone calls is not that great either. Sometimes it will be great, sometimes distorted.

One thing that I've found is that the base and handset charging contacts tend to get dirty or tarnish easily making the phone not charge or partially charge when on the charging cradle. there is nothing worse than picking up a phone that dies in a few seconds after you thought it was charging over night.

In general, I haven't been impressed with Vtech phone quality over the years and this model does not change my opinion. I would much rather spend a few extra bucks for a quality Panasonic than have a pretty, color display!
