Glossy Advertising Galore

Date of Review: Mar 13, 2000

I have never been able to understand why Vogue is held in such high esteem as a women's magazine. I've rarely been able to find an article of any sort of substance between all the glossy advertising in this publication. In my opinion, there is probably more advertising than articles in this magazine.

The best thing about Vogue, of course, are its eye catching covers. Admittedly, I have been bamboozled into purchasing Vogue just because the cover caught my eye. Naturally, once I had purchased it, I was deeply disappointed by its contents or rather the lack thereof.

The beauty advice in this magazine usually consists of 'here, buy this ludicrously bright orange overpriced Christian Dior lipstick for $20 and you'll look fabulous'.

Overall, Vogue should be avoided. Don't be fooled by the pretty covers.
