Author's Review

I've put this TV through all kinds of tests and I must say that I'm very impressed and 100% satisfied.

Picture quality is excellent with at least S-Video and moving up to component 720p or preferably HDMI at 720p it's simply perfect. Backlighting is the most even and perfect I've ever seen. Absolutely no dead/stuck/bright pixels which I'm hoping is the norm with these sets. I've only tested gaming so far with a DVI/HDMI connection but at 60 fps I didn't notice any ghosting or motion blur. In fact, it seemed to perform as well or better than my 2ms Samsung computer monitor. The menu provides a very large and complete set of picture options so you can get the exact picture you want.

I've read quite a few complaints about the sound and I have no idea what these people are talking about. Sound was crisp, clear, well balanced and more than loud enough. You can't expect a flat panel to shake the room as that's what dedicated audio components are for.

Design is also pretty smooth. The glossy black finish looks sharp but it's not distracting or glaring in any way. There are plenty of inputs on this thing including a few located conveniently on the side. I love the fact that they even included a headphone jack as I need a new audio receiver and most low end sets don't bother with them anymore.

This set, in my humble opinion, is not only worth the purchase at it's price point but I strongly feel it could easily compete with the much more expensive big name sets. I haven't had the chance to compare this set to a more high end one but I can't imagine there being much of a difference.

I can really only think of a few small cons which aren't really cons for me and shouldn't affect your choice to buy but I must mention them to complete my review.

1 - The rear inputs are slightly inside the casing facing down so it's kind of hard to connect anything without turning the set around and maybe even tilting it a little. This really should not be a big deal as the set has plenty of inputs including a side one.

2 - There doesn't appear to be any zoom mode, just stretched and standard. I prefer stretched for the few non-wide things I view so this wasn't a big deal for me personally.

3 - I'm a big believer in 720p being superior to 1080i so if the 720p isn't good enough I suggest you look elsewhere. If you're looking for 1080 resolution you should be looking at a full 1080p model anyway.

The only thing that could possibly lower my review score would be if the set stopped working and especially if the customer service after that was horrible. If I experience any problems in the future I'll be sure to come back and edit/update this review.
