Worth the Money and Some
Date of Review: Jan 14, 2007
The Bottom Line: Find out what the return policy is where you'll buy it and just get it and set it up in your home and judge for yourself.
Got my P50HDTV10A 50" Friday (heavy son of a Gun) I replaced a rear projection 50". The Vizio P50 is a great unit worth every dollar and more. I guess you could go out and get a $4-8k plasma and it could have an awesome picture and it should for that kind of money.
I Guess what happends with the vizio p50 is that expectations are low but once you set it up in your home like I did with an HDMI cable I was IMPRESSED! you can keep your $4-8k plasmas I'd rather save my money that's why I got the Vizio P50.
For under $2000 you can get the TV and the extended warranty (at Sams club). Definately worth the $1688 I paid for, this is a great TV might not be the best TV ever but I'll tell you this and I'm no expert just a consumer that wants the best at a reasonable price.
The Vizio P50 is the best at the reasonable price. I could not justify buying the other TV's that were next to the Vizio (panazonic & Samsung) and pay the extra $500 to $1000 more, the picture quality did'nt merit the expense.
All I can tell you is try it, at sams club I was told I had 30 days to return it if I didnt like it. So hey you got nothing to loose but an hour or two if you have to take it back. Unless this TV just blows up within the next 30 days I really dont have any reason to take it back. If you are concern about the brand if it will last, well thats why you get the extended warranty. If you get a name brand TV you'll get the extended warranty any way. Why not save the money and get both the TV and Warranty all for under $2k.
Do your due deligence look at the reviews all over the web Cnet is a good source and judge for your self, I did and I think I made the right choice.
True it Does not have the Picture Quality of an $8000 TV. But only of a $3000 Tv. I guess thats not bad for being a $1700 TV.
