Author's Review
My Must Have makeup item, you know the one item you cannot live without, is Lancome's Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup.
It's a foundation-It's a Powder!
Lancome Dual Finish works like a matte powder that gives you a flawless finish. No matter how big the blunder, this powder has coverage that out performs any other powder on the market.
If you wear a minimal amount of makeup then you will be pleasantly surprised how sheer the coverage is if you use a moisturizer as a base then apply the powder over it.
The flip side to this powder is that it also works as a foundation. A wet sponge takes this powder into a soft, silky base that covers evenly with full coverage. The foundation is smooth, lightweight, and matte that doesn't lift, or seep into fine lines. It isn't heavy and this wont slide off your face like most liquid foundations do.
It can be used as both foundation & powder, or just one of the two.
The key here: Use as much or as little as you need for a complete flawless finish.
Packaging
The compact is Lancome sleek-black with a gold accent and it comes with two application sponges-one flat silky puff and a thick wet/dry sponge. It is approximately 3'x3' that fits nicely into any makeup bag or small purse for travel.
The compact's packaging is the sleek silver grey that we (that love Lancome) have come to know and love. The product is packaged nicely so there is no worry of crumbling.
Accessories
I use a different foundation, but I do use the wonderful sponge to apply it. The sponge is a half an inch thick. It is solid and doesn't crumble like most sponges.
The powder puff is silky on one side with the Lancome logo, while the flip side is a regular puff that helps the product CLING to the puff. It is very thin and will sit nicely on top of the powder without pulling any powder to the surface.
They do include a round thin plastic disk that separates your makeup from its applicators.
Sticker Shock!
When you compare the price (32.99) for the dual finish, and it's sponges the sticker shock wears off. After using this foundation/powder for a few days you will be pleasantly surprised at the coverage and lasting power.
Palettes
Lancome's Dual Finish comes in a variety of colors:
*Matte Clair II
*Matte Honey III
*Matte Amande III
*Matte Bisque II
*Matte Buff II
*Matte Café IV
*Matte Miel Foncé IV
*Matte Neutrale II
*Matte Nu III
*Matte Pâle I
*Matte Porcelaine Délicate I
*Matte Porcelaine d'Ivoire I
*Matte Rose Clair II
*Matte Sable IV
Lancome's colour palettes range from very dark to transparent. You should have no problem finding a shade that is perfect for your skin tone. Since the coverage is great but light, you do not need an exact match to make your face seamless.
Staying Power
Another plus-
I use this product daily as a powder and it lasts me a little over a year. When I used it as both foundation and powder it lasted well over 8 months.
So you are not only paying for quality but quantity. This is definitely a must have for anyone who loves the rich feel of high end cosmetics, but doesn't like paying high prices for makeup that tends to be used quickly.
Wear & Removal
I love the fact that this makeup is easily removed, yet has 24 hour staying power. Just use your regular cleanser and it is gone.
It wont clog pores or cause break outs. It is so lightweight you hardly know its there, yet you control the amount of coverage you need.
Once it is out of the box, you need not worry about the product breaking, unless it is dropped on a hard surface or you are getting close to bottom of the pan. Then you do need to be a bit careful about the product breaking up.
Ingredients
Since I have had my Dual Finish for over a year, I do not have the original packaging, which lists the ingredients.
As soon as I purchase a new compact I will update the review.
I will say however, that I do have sensitive skin. Although my skin tone is olive, I have had very serious reaction to certain types of cosmetics, especially foundations.
I have never had a pimple much less a rash or dry spot from using this product.
It is very gentle and Lancome will stand behind their product if you do indeed find you have a problem with their cosmetics.
MaggsMomm's Thoughts
I cannot live without my Dual Finish and I recommend it to anyone that wants a a great powder and or foundation. When you look at the price in comparison to what you are getting the price is minimal. Once you try this product I promise you'll never use another product again!
