Ohhh God Is Bigger Than The Boogie Man

Veggie Tales Starring Bob the tomato and Larry the cucumber in their video Where's God when I'm Scared. My kids just adore Veggie Tales videos. I could not be more thrilled about how popular they are in my home. Veggie Tales are Christian cartoons with funny cartoon vegetables acting out different stories in ways that young children can understand. They are such unique cartoons especially now when you have Pokemon and Power Puff girls. My youngest can understand what is being taught. Also they enable her to understand God on her level. The videos are not that expensive you can find them at even Walmart for around 9.99. Each video is a half hour of fun, silly songs, and lessons to be learned.

About the movie: It begins with a skit with Jr. Asparagus watching a scary movie. His mom and dad want him to go to bed and they think the movie is too scary for him. He heads off to bed but they were right because everything looks scary to him now. Once he gets in bed he hears noises which turn out to be Bob the tomato and Larry the cucumber. Bob sings a song titled "God is Bigger then the Boogie Man". This is still our favorite song out of all of the Veggie tales ones we have heard. It goes like this: God is bigger than the boogie man he is bigger than Godzilla or the monsters on TV oh God is bigger than the boogie man and he's watching out for you and me..
Then the monster Frankin Celery shows up in Jr.'s room and explains to Jr. he is just a n actor named Phil from Toledo. Jr. learns that God is bigger than anything and is always watching out for him so he does not need to be afraid. His dad comes up to tuck him into bed. He tells Jr. how him and mom just thought that movie was a little too scary. Jr. starts telling his dad about how Frankin Celery is really an actor from Toledo and how it is all okay because God is watching out for him. His dad seems a little confused but agrees with Jr. The skit ends with Jr. all tucked in bed and lightly singing "God is Bigger than the boogie man".

Next there is Silly Songs with Larry. I am not overly impressed with the silly song in this video. Larry comes out dressed like a cowboy and sings a song of how everyone has a water buffalo. An asparagus comes out and stops him after he sings for a short while. Explaining how he cannot sing that because everyone does not have a water buffalo.

Then the last skit is about the story of Daniel. The Veggie tales characters tell of how there was a king and three nasty wise men. Also of a boy named Daniel. One night the king has a dream he does not understand. His wise men cannot explain it but tell the king they know of someone who can. In comes Daniel. He explains that God gives him his wisdom and that's how he will explain the dream to the king. The king is so happy that Daniel was able to explain his dream to him that he makes him the second in command. The wise men get extremely jealous and start plotting how to get rid of Daniel. They sing a song of all of the ideas they have to do it until they finally whisper something and run off laughing. They go and convince the king that he should make a law that nobody can worship or pray to anyone but the king. The king passes the law and the wise men go off to catch Daniel in the act. Daniel knows of the law but it does not matter he knows his God is the only one he should pray to. So as he is praying the wise men bust in and catch him. They carry him off to carry out his punishment. They take him to the lions den and toss him in. At first Daniel is very frightened and thinks this might be the end. Then a light shines down on him from above. A woman with a soft beautiful voice sings "Don't cry Daniel, fear not Daniel.". She reminds him that God is always there for him even now in the lions den. He was still unsure of what would happen but felt better knowing he was not alone. The king was very sad thinking he had lost his friend so he prayed for Daniel's God to protect him. The next morning the king and the wise men went to the lions den. The king did not think anyone could survive, but then they hear Daniel. The king is thrilled but the wise men are confused. Daniel comes out and yells back to the lions "thanks for the pizza". Now the king knows that Daniel's God is the one that everyone should be praying to. He says that from that day on everyone will pray to Daniel's God. It ends with the king and Daniel chasing after the wise men as they are running away.

At the end of the video Bob and Larry talk about what everyone has learned today. Their computer friend Quirty even has a verse to go along with the episode. She sings a little song then gives us a verse from the bible about how not to be scared because God is always with you.

Overall: I am so happy to have found Veggie Tales. It is something my kids really enjoy and I can be secure in knowing everything they are seeing is good. The songs are very cute and catchy. I find myself singing them even when the kids are not around. I find them so original too.... Singing vegetables with great personalities. It is so funny something I have to fight with my kids to eat entertains them so much......
