Oh yeah, it's for the KIDS

One of the many benefits of having a child is the rediscovery of children's shows--and what a change since I was in diapers!

The Veggie Tales are so wonderful, that there are times when my husband and I forget that the video is supposed to be for our son, not for us. There was one evening that after we put our son to bed we watched this "Rack, Shack, and Benny" with three of our adult friends. None of us could stop laughing. Silly Songs with Larry is a highlight of the tape as he parodies a melodrama with "Oh, where is my hairbrush?"

While the humor is wonderful, the message is also touching. It teaches children that they can be brave and stand up for what they believe in--even when adults pressure them otherwise. It reminds them that their parents will always be with them as long as they remember what their parents taught them. We now sing as a bedtime song the lovely little ditty "Think of me every day, hold tight to what I say."

What more could a parent ask for? Lots of laughs, a strong plot, memorable characters, and lots of great messages that reinforce important values.
