Author's Review
I love Twist magazine. It is one of the few teen magazines that I actually like. Now that I am in my 20's, I don't quite enjoy the teen magazines as much as I used to. I find the "How to ask a guy to Prom" articles to be useless. But I do enjoy Twist. The features are different and everyone can relate to it. Even my mom reads it.
When Twist first came out a few years ago, what I liked about it was that they incorporated a lot of websites in articles. For example, if they wrote about makeup tricks, they had a website where you could read more about it. Or wear to buy the makeup. I thought that was cool. Also, there was a section toward the back of the magazine that had reviews of web sites and why you should check it out. I first found out about lovecalculator.com from an issue of Twist. I love that site and hadn't heard about it until I read the article.
Another interesting feature is one called Road Test. It is always something different. It involves a real teen girl (or in rare instances, a boy) to try out different products or experiment with different situations. For example, one issue had a feature with teen girls trying different infomercial items. Another had a girl going out with a male supermodel to see what it was like. One had a girl going out with 3 different blind dates, one set up by her mom, one by her best friend, and one by here best guy friend. My favorite though was a recent article where a girl tried out different foods to attract guys. She rubbed popcorn, steak, donuts, and other popular smells onto herself and used them as "perfume" and documented the results. It was a funny article and the popcorn actually worked.
Twist is a modern magazine. They keep their readers coming back for more with inventive articles. I love it and will continue to reading it for a long time.
