For fans only?

There were probably a lot of reasons why these songs weren't included on the albums they were originally recorded for. Some might not have fit the mood of the overall release, some of the performances might not have been deemed "definitive" by one of the most demanding recording artists in rock and roll, and some might simply have not fit on the album for space reasons. Whatever the reason the Boss chose to leave them unheard by (most of) the general public for all these years, it's a delight to have them all in one place for the first time. Ten of them have been released as B-sides to singles, but never on CD. Many have been bootlegged, and some have been made famous by others (like Southside Johnny's version of "The Fever,"), but all reveal a little about this extremely prolific songwriter who lets far too many years elapse between his album releases. In fact, one of the few complaints (and believe me, this is a minor one) about his current tour is that Bruce and the E Street Band don't perform enough songs from this release. Of course, there's only so many songs they can fit into their nearly three hour show, and there are certain pieces they can't not do, if you know what I mean.
