The beginning of the best

This season has some of my favourite episodes including:
Homer's Triple Bypass, Mr. Plow, Lisa the Beauty Queen, Duffless, and Marge in Chains. Once again the DVD creators did a magnificent job of restoring the video quality. This DVD does not have as many extras as previous seasons. Four episodes have Animatic showcases, which is an interesting feature that allows you to change the angle from storyboard, to animatic, to the finished product. I would have liked to see more of these on other episodes. There are only two episodes with deleted scenes which are no more than about 10 seconds each. The animated menus have evolved significantly since the first season, but can get a bit annoying after a while. Luckily you can skip through them. Overall this is the best season yet. The quality of the writing and directing is great. Stories are touching (most notably Homer's triple bypass) as well as funny (like Marge gets a Job). The animation has also evolved and looks like the Simpsons that are on the air today in their 13th season.
