Representing the Right Attitude

Well some of you may know that the Dilated crew, evidence;iriscience; and dj babu, has been around for quite some time now lurking in the west coast underground scene. In fact a good third of the songs have been released on vinyl over the past couple years. When i first took a listen to the platform, it was as i expected, a VERY SOLID album. I wouldnt rank it among my top ten list of all time, but definitely one with classic potential. Although i may not love all the tracks on the album, what i have utmost respect for is their attitude towards the music. The dilated peoples have always worked very hard on their music and have always stuck to their own aritistic integrity. Even the graphic design of the cd artwork has true hip-hop written all over it.
Production by evidence rarely dissapoints, creating beats that deliver much strength. Flows by both iriscience and evidence are always some of the wittiest out there, packaged in a very unique flow. Dj babu displays his usual soulful style of scratching, although many avid dj`s may feel shortchanged, because babu does not display anything totally new.
Work the angles is definitely a classic anthem of the west coast underground. I was also impressed by Ear Drums Pop and Years in the making. All the tracks are solid, some more than others. THere is enough variety here to please all tastes. But more importantly, this album will gain respect for the dilated crew, not for its aesthetics, but for their dedication to the culture that is hip-hop
