The Pigman, a Great for Young and Old
Date of Review: Jun 17, 2001
The Bottom Line: Go to the library and read this book right now - you wont regret it!
The very first time I read this book, was at school. Our teacher assigned it to us at the very end of the year and said that we would really enjoy it. I am by no means a book worm or any other book maniac, but this was one of the few books that I really enjoyed.
The story is about two high school kids - John and Lorraine, who meet an lonely old man and really befriend him. They do everything with him until one night as they are simply playing around...You will have to read the book to find out the rest of the story, which I'm sure you will enjoy.
The only thing I didn't like was the end. It was obvious, plain and very disappointing, which really brought the story down. But, I have to admit I got very sad at the end of the book. Yet, except for that, I found the story very well written, especially the main characters (John and Lorraine). They are really the part that makes the story good. One always distorts the truth, and ill-disciplined, but soft and friendly. The other is nervous and not confident, but smart and clever.
Overall I liked the Pigman and think it was a great book, even with the few minor lapses.
