The Second Of Many

I think that the understandibility of the movie disappears when Claudin falsely beileves the publisher is stealing his life's work. It would have been much more understandable if the publisher really was stealing it because then it turns Claudin into a psychopathic maniac, which he is not. It strays too far from the original novel by having two men trying to compete for Christine. Also, it sucks the melodrama from the movie with humor. I was expecting to see a dramatic masterpiece, instead I saw too much humor. Overall, the opera scenes are lush with sound and vision. Nelson Eddy and Susanna Foster's voices sound as though they were meant to sing together. If you are a "Phantom" fan, I advise you to see this movie but don't expect too much drama.
