Author's Review
This album is overwhelmingly well constructed. The movie obviously was a winner, and when the soundtrack came out everyone knew it was going to be a hit, and everyone's intuition was correct. This album with its sexy, sensual, tunes was excellent. The album begins with a rap song by the hip hop group Roots, and ends with a song named after the title, "best man", sung by Tyrese, Ginuwine, Case, and R.L from the group Next. The album succeeds in combining slower, romantic songs, and upbeat, faster beat songs. For the slower songs, the album adds some great faces like Eric Benet, Kenny Lattimore, and Maxwell. For the faster songs, they include Roots, Sporty Thievz, and the great Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill. This album comes very close to defeating Soul food in it's soundtrack area. One thing that Soul food defeated Best man in was the addition of older artists like Earth, Wind, and Fire, Tony, Toni, Tone, and En vogue. Best man stays with the new and younger generation by not including older artists, but instead adding younger artist like Beyonce of Destiny's Child, Kenny Lattimore, Case, and others. I would definitely recommend this album because it really is a good album.
