Author's Review
We have waited a long time for a playstation 2 game that really stands out. The wait is over. Tekken Tag Tournament brings forward a new generation in gaming that has never been seen before until now. A combination of real to life graphics with incredible physics, near to perfect, that make this game standout from the rest.
With 20 initial characters beautifully developed and another 12 unlock able ones, the replay value of the game is very satisfying. Though the single player section of the game consists of eight battles and does not challenge the above average gamer, the survival and team battle modes make the other 70 percent of the game value. During the survival game mode, you must, as the title says, strive to stay alive for as long as possible. You will face many battles, increasingly difficult, that will test your abilities in tagging and fighting. The team battle mode gives you the choice of an up to eight player in which the player must compete in up to seventeen consecutive battles and come up victorious. And then there is the two-player battle mode, which keeps the excitement going on for as long as you have a friend to spend the time with.
The tag ability of the game really made this game what it is. Though you may think you have your opponent beaten in seconds, at any moment, he could swiftly switch to his partner for a battle that gets even more heated by the second. In conjunction with this ability, it brings forward impressive new combinations that are sure to keep your heart beating.
The portion of the game that does not stand up to par is that TTT has not incorporated the three dimensional effect that was brought through with the new gaming consoles. Though the 2-dimensional development was in depth and stood well with the old Tekken games, most people looked forward to a full 3-D capability. Not much else can be said negatively towards this game as it really stands out as one of the top games of the season.
