Impreza 2.5TS is good stuff!
Pros:
Almost all good! Fun to drive.
Cons:
Expected more power, a little noisy, sun visors in the way.
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this car to anyone.

Author's Review
I managed to convince my girlfriend to get the Impreza 2.5TS. She also based her choice on my experience with my 1998 Legacy Outback. She's very happy about it!
It is a very neat and fun car to drive. Lots of improvements on features versus mine: variable intermittent windshield wipers, foldable mirrors, nice snuggling seats, nicer front dash, bright head lights and fog lights, better suspension, more precise direction, much better speakers, engine more flexible, ...
There are two things I am disappointed about:
-the sun visors are not holding in place when fully down: they comeback in your face! (but that's a detail)
-there seem to be less power than in my car!! Even if it is smaller and lighter, I feel like there is less power than with my Legacy Outback! It is the same motor except that the Impreza has a SOHC where mine is a DOHC (2.5L engines before 2001-2 are DOHC). Subaru claims the motor has the same power but how can it be?? It's like removing the turbo of an engine will not affect it's power? Come-on! I do feel there is less power in the Impreza and I am disappointed by that. At least the engine feels more "flexible", meaning that you don't have to be as precise on the clutch.
It's still a great car: I beat the little crappy civic si!
Gas consumption is not that good. It's a 2.5L. 11.2 L/100km (25mpg) Highway: 8.0 L/100km (35mpg). At least the transmission gears seem a little bigger than the Lagacy's, saving on gas. But I think there should be a 6th gear (like on the STI) to save gas on the highway. This would also make it less noisy.
The cargo area is good. At 790L seats up, we were surprised at how much we can fit in there. Even with a new born. BTW, there are tie-down specially made for baby seats - well thought!
The seats are comfortable. They are more like the sporty type, where you feel your back is cornered, it won't move. I thought bigger people might actually feel cramped, but a friend of mine (230lbs 6'2") said he loved them and was comfortable.
It's now been 1.5 years and no problem and we love it.
I recommend this car to anyone.
