Death of a once good magazine

I knew something evil was lurking in the hearts of certain editors and an ill-advised publisher when I began noticing how Sports Afield was changing, very definitely for the worse. One day, someone at Sports Afield woke up and decided to turn this former fine hunting-and-fishing magazine into a very bad clone of Men's Journal and an even worse one of Outside. The fool who decided this and sold the idea to his co-workers is now regretting it, even though he'll tell you otherwise. The truth is that Sports Afield has lost a large percentage of its once loyal readership, and now the magazine is having to scramble to develop new readers, which in today's market is extremely difficult.

Staffers at magazines that were once Sports Afield's competition are laughing out loud at the shmucks who ruined Sports Afield. If you are self-centered yuppie the likes of Andy Mill, you will love the new Sports Afield. If you are a true outdoor sportsman, you are going to despise it.

C'est la vie. Or, I should say, c'est la mort.
