Simply put, this is the greatest book that I have ever read. It delves into the psych of a 15-16 year old girl who is just entering high school. She is faced with a difficult situation at a party that she did not know how to handle which sparks the entire book. Laurie Halse Anderson is accurate in describing exactly what high school life is like for the outcast. Melinda (the protagonist) finds herself lost, with no friends, and unable to express herself. Though, through different confrontations she is able to overcome this. Anderson vividly drenches her writing with sarcasm and reality. Pushing the book to higher levels; as most high school students, even those who are not like Melinda, can relate to one or another situation in this excellent book. Andersons writing style is more projected towards teens, they are given an inside look at the mind of Melinda, while still understanding what's going on outside through different perspectives. I reccomend this book for all high schoolers. Definitely an excellent read.
