Fine player but many frustrations

The Bottom Line: The Sony DVP-NS50P, though inexpensive, performs brilliantly, but is compromised by user-hostile controls; huge, mandatory on-screen displays; shallow DVD well; ambiguous "auto shut-off"; useless customer service.

Review: The unit is able to play back some DVDs pretty well. However, it has severe difficulties with the rest. My experience is that it played about 40% of the commercial DVDs I attempted. It consistently plays well homemade DVDs though.

Would not buy it!!!

The Bottom Line: the lag time is killing me. i feel like i have to hand crank it. Would not reccomend it at all!!
Review: The DVD player is very nice size...Slim, very light, and looks very good.

The connections in the back are not clearly marked. it has "Digital Out" with Coaxial under neat, "Line out" with Video under neath, and "component video out"

Great low-end player with many convenient features

Great DVD player for a reasonable price

The Bottom Line: Unless you are a super-demanding videophile, this DVD player gives you great bang for your buck.
Review: As a member of Netflix I watch a lot of DVDs, sometimes more than one a day. Many of these DVDs are scratched and consequently would not play on my other DVD player. In my frustration I decided I needed to get another DVD player.
