I have only played about eight video games on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 combined. Resident Evil 4 for PlayStation 2 was incredibly impressive. And, since it was the very first video game I ever played, my standards were consequently set too high to enjoy most other games.
The reason why I so enjoyed this game is because it exceeded all my requirements for a video game. First, although many parts of the game were tricky, it was always clear where you were headed. Second, the main character, Leon, uses several different kinds of guns throughout the game. I enjoyed the shooting scenes in Resident Evil better than top shooter games. (And Resident Evil 4 is classified as Adventure). Next, the cut scenes were short and sweet. The story as a whole is only topped by Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater. There are many little perks in the game, like puzzle solving, gun and accessory shopping, and even extra mini-games actually worth playing when you beat the game. Finally, even by 2008's standards the graphics are impressive.
Resident Evil 4 is one of those games that you will enjoy more than once, if you care for a second round. This is because the game is extremely complex and heavily detailed.
