Another Sony Product???

Just got this recorder. It looks kind of flimsy, not the quality and feel you would expect from Sony products.

Upon trying to connect it, I discovered that there is NO S-VIDEO INPUT on the back panel!!!! This is totally asinine!! I went through great pain and expense to have a S-video set up and the DVD recorder has no input!

Yes there is a front S-video input put that makes for an awkward and unsightly connection. On the positive side, it has a Firewire input for a camcorder, and several recoding times in .5 hours increments.

Also, it cannot play PAL DVDs from Europe, something that even cheap Wall Mart machines can do!

Will report on recording capabilities as soon as I will recover from the shock of not having a S-video input on its back! Unless I decide to not to mess with it and just return it!

I conclusion, it is very sad to see even Sony cheapening itself so much to sell this kind of products! Made in China too!!! What is one to do to obtain a decent quality machine? Enough with this cheap junk!!!

Expensive machine for what it can do.
