Smallville is based on the superman hero Clark Kent in his teenage years. Season 1 is based on Clark Kent trying to fit in with society as well as helping people while trying to keep his powers a secret.
Smallville season 1 has a freak of the weak formula but its there for a reason. It shows you what the effects of Kryptonite have with certain people and in what ways it can contaminate humans and the effect is has on clark. Season 1 goes straight into season 2 with a bang which season 2 starts to show some of the Krypton story.
Smallville has a great range of cast including Tom Welling (cheaper by the Dozen) as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Launa Lang and the role of Lex Luther played greatly by Michael Rosenbaum who really brings his character alive. Also featuring is Sam Jones III as Clarks best friend, Allison Mack as the school reporter and Annette O'Toole and John Schneider as Clarks Parents.
If you haven't seen smallville before and you are a huge fan of Superman, you may be surprised that Clark and Lex Luthur are friends.
