Didn't work well for us

The Bottom Line: Try before you buy!
I'd been reading about slings and thought it would be great to use one with my new baby. I know they like to be held a lot. My first son was a "high-needs" baby and since I learned about slings I wish I would have had one for him. So, I bought this one for my new baby born Jan. 2006. I liked the adjustable buckle, and I do want a sling of this type rather than a "wrap" that goes all around the body because I'm large and don't want a bunch of straps emphasizng how large! The store I was at had this and one other sling of a similar design. The other one was ugly so I bought this one!
But every time I try to use it, the baby goes down inside, his head under the little cloth piece in the corner of the head end. He cries and cries. When using the straps, even when he was brand new, his head was right up against the end! I tried using it without putting him in the little straps, but it didn't help much - he wasn't right up against the end but still sank down inside too far. He's almost 4 months and I try again occasionally but he still sinks down in. The box said to call the company if you needed help using it, but the only suggestion they had was to return it.
I think the elastic sides are a big part of the problem. It stretches too much rather than holding him up.
