Author's Review
We have been very fortunate lately to have everything in our home go kaput at the same time. First our printer died and next it was our microwave. We had a Sears Kenmore Microwave from 1986. It lasted for 14 years and went through a major overhaul under warranty about six years ago. Well it decided to quit, it was old.
We had to buy a new one and we went to a membership warehouse. We found this Sharp Microwave Oven. It was $ 99.00 and we thought what are we going to get for $ 99.00? We bought it because we liked the looks, it was a lot nicer looking than our other microwave. It is black, has an attractive digital front, and the cost compared to the other one was about $ 200 less (Prices have gone down!)
We got it home and this is what we found:
Installation How easy can it get. Remove from box, take off the sticker on door, remove some of the plastic wrapping, plug it in and the microwave starts telling you which steps to take. I watched my husband as the microwave told him to set the clock through the digital screen. He thought it was really neat.
NOTE There is a 3" by 4" piece of paper like substance on the right inside wall of the microwave as you open the door. This is called the waveguide. DO NOT REMOVE this if you buy this oven. It is needed for its operation.
Cooking Compared to our old oven everything is cooked in half the time. For grins we put a frozen breakfast in the microwave. The Sharp 330C has what is called "sensor cooking". We pressed the Frozen Entree button. The microwave came on and began cooking. It cooked for about a minute and then a clock came on. It counted down from about a minute and 30 seconds. When it was done the digital screen came on and stated: Let Stand. When we removed the Entree it was very flavorful and moist. Our old oven dried everything out.
The oven comes with a recipe book that covers: Beverages, Defrosting, Breakfasts, Lunches, and One Dish Dinners.
Sharp states in summary: Sensor Cooking detects the vapor emitted from the food as it heats. The sensor adjusts the cooking times and the power level for various foods and quantities. It works!
Cleaning The microwave is easy to clean. So far we have only used a damp cloth, a little bit of dish soap and water. It wipes out easily and everything we have spilled has cleaned up with ease. Sharp recommends the Waveguide cover be kept clean at all times with a damp cloth the ensure good oven performance.
Overall we are very impressed with our Sharp Microwave Oven. It was a great deal at $ 99.00 and we are impressed so far with all of its power and features.
