Last year our Magic Chef microwave burned down producing heavy smoke and leaving us in frustration. I went to Sears and bought Sharp R450 - the big one. But when I came home, I found that the door is broken, so I returned it, went to Best Buy and bought what seemed good to me: Sharp Carousel R320CD, almond color with cooking sensor. When choosing it, I paid attention to the price, name, power and chamber capacity. The oven is about 1 sq. ft inside and 1.1 kW in power which makes it an excellent value among mid-sized models. I did not know too much about the cooking sensor, but decided to get a microwave which had it.
Only after I came home I realized what a great deal I'd made. The carousel plate had a shape that was a lot easier to clean than that from our dead Magic Chef. The old microwave was very hard to clean in the corners inside the chamber. The Sharp had rounded corners, which needed only a light stroke of paper towel to be clean. The more, the better. Reheat sensor button did miracles. Whenever I needed to warm up yesterday's dinner, it was only one push. My wife loves baked potato. This oven makes them just right. Popcorn making used to be a problem on our old microwave. This one actually senses when the popcorn is ready and shuts down. A child safety lock and a beep off functions are plus. I keep the beep off constantly, because it wakes up our toddler.
Computerized defrost is a little slow and you cannot thaw large pieces of meat - this is the only trade-off for the mid-size, but otherwise I must say that this Sharp R320CD microwave is an excellent investment. I would strongly recommend this model over any other.
