Product Review

Don't Miss This One

by   ColcordMama ,   Nov 14, 1999

Pros:  Fabulous performances

Cons:  some profanity

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

Colonel Frank Slade (U.S. Army, Ret.) and Charlie Simmons are thrown together by a financial crisis and a physical need: Slade (Al Pacino) is blind, and Simmons (Chris O'Donnell) desperately needs the cash he will earn by "babysitting" Slade over a holiday weekend. The Colonel is not only blind, he is nasty tempered and embittered by his disability, and determined to head for Manhattan to commit suicide after one last weekend sampling all the best life has to offer, with Charlie reluctantly in tow. You don't want to miss the incomparable tango scene, or the Colonel driving a red Ferrari at top speed down New York streets (he's blind, remember?) or the gut-wrenching hotel scene where Slade has the revolver and Charlie doesn't. Pacino had had eight nominations before he finally won his Oscar for his performance in this film, and it was totally deserved.
