Author's Review
A couple months ago I bought San Francisco Rush from a friend. I had played it in the arcades and couldn't wait to get my hands on an n64 version. I was NOT disappointed...
Overview - San Francisco Rush is one of the best racing games on the market today. Even though it's old, it still stands up to the competitors. The game features 8 cars, two special cars, and the rare F1 racer. It also has 6 tracks to play on.
Cars - The cars in San Francisco Rush are the heart of the game. I prefer the extreme car vs. the other levels of car difficulty because the handling is the most sensitive. You can choose between automatic or manual for better acceleration. And trust me, you're going to need that precise shifting control in the curving and looping tracks! Some other nice features are the different shades you can color your car and the special cars you can unlock throughout the course of the game.
Tracks - Some people complain that the SF Rush is a bad racing game because of the limit of 6 tracks. Oh so wrong! In reality, you can have much more than 6 tracks with the mirrored and backwards track options which flip the whole level around so you almost won't recognize it.
Gameplay - The gameplay for SF Rush is has excellent replay value. If you haven't heard already, the game has almost no gravity, so when you go off a jump or a hill, you go Flying! You car also receives damage and if crashed too much, will explode in a spectacular fireball. This will please the most avid video addict to the "it's my first time, go easy on me" gamer. On top of that, there's a whole jumble of secrets and hidden items for you to uncover, which is an exiting game all in itself.
In conclusion, the graphics are great and the racing is smooth. All in all, its a really fun game to play, by yourself or with a friend! So if you're looking for a game that you can play 3 hours a week or 3 hours a day, you know where to look... SF Rush.
