Bad Samsung tv or TI LED engine

by   janumb ,   May 13, 2008

Pros:  Picture look sharp and bright from the distance.

Cons:  LED engine should last the life of the set - mine lasted lessthen 5 months

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

What inspired me to buy this set was the reviews in Epinions and the excellents of the new Texas Instrument LED engine that as advertised should last the live of the set or at least longer then the LED bulbs.
My Samsung tv set started giving me a problem about two mounts into the ownership. Tv would not turn on unless I unpluged it from the recepticle for about 5 minutes - that was recommended by Samsung technician and their troubleshooting guide. After 5 months I lost the picture - LED engine failed. On my friend older Samsung tv the conventional bulb lasted over 2 years.
Samsung stop making these tv's soon after that - can't find anything on their home page - it just ceeded to exist. I think the finally realized it was a flop - Samsung version of etzel.
Shoul've buy SONY or JVC
