Author's Review

Three broken DLP'S in fifteen months! I bought my first Samsung DLP from Circuit City on Dec. 27th, 2007. After getting it home and hooking up I noticed a flaw in the screen, It look like a couple of hairs on the projector lens that reflected on to the screen. I contacted Samsungs service department and was told that they had no people in my area that would service the set! They did however say they would ship a replacement. Thirty days later the replacement set arrives. I hook everything up, plug it in, and, Yes the second defective Samsung in row! The picture now appears as if there is a constant bright light being shined on the screen. I again contact Samsung, was told they would send another replacement. About another month later the second replacement arrives. This time after everything's hooked up and turned on all appears to be fine. EXCEPT PICTURE QUALITY! [more on that later] That brings us to March 2008. The past two weeks the set has decided to start turning itself on and off whenever it feels like it. I again on March 29th. contact Samsung. This time I am told that the warranty expired on March 27th.[yes! just two days out of warranty] and there was nothing they could do for me. There is nobody in my area that will service Samsung TV's. So if I wanted it fixed I would have to package it up and send it to a service center at my expense! This being my first time buying a HDTV I purchased it on the Circuit City website. Not realizing the huge picture quality differences in different brands and price ranges, I purchased solely on screen size for the dollar! BIG MISTAKE! I would now recommend going to the store and comparing sets side by side, and you will notice a difference in picture quality!Higher priced units use higher quality components that produce a clearer sharper picture! Bottom Line, you get what you pay for! In am not totally knocking Samsung because I have seen some of there higher end LCD TVs [and higher priced!] and the pictures are beautiful! Although after Three defective DLP's I would be weary of there reliability! Anyway for what its worth thats my two cents. Hope its helpful to somebody!
