We love our Samsung L-200!

The Bottom Line: This is a great light weight portable DVD player with excellent picture quality and good sound.
We were in the market for a light weight portable DVD player to use on airplane rides and in our car/van. We shopped around a lot and really wanted a nice large screen, so we settled on the Samsung L-200.
The Pros
1) Very large 10 inch screen
2) 2 headphone outputs
3) Good battery life--I tested it with Lord of the rings and it lasted 2 hours 45 minutes at full volume
4) Excellent image quality
5) Light weight
6) Has screen reverse feature, so it could be mounted on the ceiling of our van if we wanted to.
The Negative
1) It runs on 8.5 volts so you have to buy their special DC adapter if you want to plug it into a plane outlet. For van use you can still buy a DC-AC converter and then plug in the AC adapter (a lot of cords) if you want. Their adapter is $80-100 which is a rip-off at half that price! This has annoyed me quite a bit, but I'm not sure how often I will want to plug into the power on a plane.
So as I can only come up with the one negative, I'm pretty happy with this player. If the Toshiba line is a standard voltage (6v or 9 volt) I might have chosen that instead (If I'd known that before my purchase). The controls are easy to use, it is very light weight and the picture quality is awesome!
Why would you consider spending $550 on a portable DVD player verses spending $300 more and buying a laptop? The answer is size and battery life! Buy an $800 laptop and you will get one VERY large boat anchor! This player fits in the outside pocket of our samsonite carryon with its battery attached!
