A product I tried to avoid...then it won me over!

I did NOT want to purchase this bath seat. It just seemed too big and bulky to me. I wanted one of the simpler, smaller ones that suction to the bottom of the bathtub. I searched for months to find the kind I was looking for, and then when I got it (off of Ebay), I didn't like it at all! The type of bathtub we had wasn't the right material for the suction cups on the bottom to work properly, and so the seat would slide around when my daughter was in it and it would come unsuctioned and float around otherwise. But I just did not want to have to go purchase the only bath seat I'd seen in stores- this Safety 1st Tubside Bath Seat. I didn't want the huge armrest that goes over the side of the tub, and I wanted to be able to move the seat around to different areas which the tubside seat wouldn't allow. So I put off purchasing a replacement for the dud that I'd bought.

However, my mother-in-law saw the Safety 1st Tubside seat on sale once and bought it for me. I was less than thrilled, but thanked her kindly. That evening I decided to give it a shot. My first experience with it made me feel quite silly for thinking it was such an awful product up until that point!! While the arm rest that goes over the side of the tub DOES limit where the seat can be, that seemed to be the only downfall. I was actually very happy with how sturdy the seat was and , because of the over the tub armrest, how well it stays in place. I don't have to worry about it moving around while my daughter is in the bath, so I feel she's much safer. The seat can easily be made to swivel around so I can face her in many different directions, and the armrest is really easy to clamp and unclamp onto the side of the tub, which makes for easy moving. I also really liked how high the back of the seat goes in order to better support the baby.

The seat IS bulkier than what I'd originally wanted, making it a little more difficult to store, but the armrest actually adjusts so it can be turned inwards and takes up less room. I really don't find the armrest to be necessary in anyway, but considering how it provides such stability to the seat, it's really worth it. It would be fun if these seats came in different colors!
