I purchased the Stinger Ma06 No'Squito Indoor Insect Control as part of a two-piece set. The other piece was an outdoor bug zapper. The Ma06 No'Squito intrigued me as my doors are constantly being opened and closed with 3 boys and 2 dogs living in my house and here in NC we get mosquitoes as large as aircraft.
The Stinger Ma06 No'Squito uses a light and fan to attract and kill insects. There are no chemicals or pheromones involved. I use this unit in my kitchen, so I did not want anything to possibly contaminate my food or eating utensils. This unit seemed like a good choice for my situation.
Here is how it works. The UV light attracts flying insects, the fan pulls them down into a collection chamber and they dehydrate and die. You empty the unit (preferably outdoors), replace the tray and you are good to go. TO empty the unit, turn it off, slide out the drawer, open the unit top, empty out the bugs, replace the top and slide the drawer back in. It is pretty easy. There are no chemicals or pheromones to replace, just the UV light bulb.
Some things to keep in mind about this unit. It works best when it does not have to compete with natural light. If you are using it, keep it away from direct light so you will attract more insects. You have to place it no higher than 6 feet above the floor. Finally, I recommend that it be emptied outdoors. Not all of the insects will be dead when you empty the unit. It kills mosquitoes and other small flying insects quickly. Moths, houseflies, and other larger bugs take a little longer to dehydrate. If you empty the unit indoors, there is a risk of releasing live insects back into your home.
I have an issue with this unit although overall it works well. The bulb life is very short. I had to replace the bulb within 1 month of use. This makes the bulbs expensive if they need to be replaced monthly. I have not replaced my replacement bulb yet; it has been less than 1 month so I do not know if the first bulb was defective or not. You need to use caution around the unit when it is in use. The UV bulb is a full spectrum UV bulb and you should not look directly at the light as this can damage your eyes. I would recommend telling children not to look directly at the bulb when it is lit.
Aside from the bulb issue, I like the unit and it works well. It is amazing at how many insects you find in it. I get moths and other insects like fireflies that come in when my kids open the doors (and forget to close them). Once we even had a June bug (these are huge beetles). It is really effective in removing mosquitoes from the house as well. The mosquitoes tend to stick to the screen, so a small brush is very effective at removing them.
