Rolling Stone: The Only Mag I Still Subscribe To

Date of Review:  Jul 8, 2001
The Bottom Line: The Rolling Stone is still the industry leader. When RS really wants to take on a topic they can do it the best.
Review: I have been a subscriber for about 8 years. Rolling Stone is the only magazine I still subscribe to because when they do deliver the goods, they keep me happy. Here's a quick breakdown.

Something For Everyone

Date of Review:  Jan 6, 2000
Review: My family and I have been receiving Rolling Stone for about three years. In our family, we don't necessarily have all the same tastes in music or entertainment (rock, country, blues, etc.), but we all read it.

Rolling Stone has articles...

Back in the Saddle Again with Rolling Stone

Date of Review:  Apr 1, 2009
The Bottom Line: This is a fine magazine to read, so that you can keep up with all of the bands, and find new ones that you'll like.
Review: Rolling Stone has always been a magazine that I subscribed to, because I love reading periodicals that can combine news, music, and style. This magazine's history is amazing, as they've had so many famous covers and articles over the years, and I...

Plight of the Formerly Relevant

Date of Review:  Dec 11, 2007
The Bottom Line: Hunter Thompson is dead and P.J. O'Rourke is too smart for today's Rolling Stone.
Review: I can remember being in high school and looking forward to new issues of Rolling Stone. They would have informative articles and I always liked their reviews on new releases. It seemed like a magazine that was really tuned in to rock and roll...

More ADS than ARTICLES!

Date of Review:  Apr 23, 2000
Review: Well, I recently subscribed to Rolling Stone..Why? Well, I read a few interesting cover stories before and with only $10 for a yearly subscription from Ebsco, I decided that there was no where to go wrong.

Then my first issue came, and I...

ROLLING STONE...not sure

Date of Review:  Apr 25, 2000
Review: I have mixed feelings about the magazine Rolling Stone. For example, one issue will be totally banging filled with awesome articles and interviews and pictures and things, and then the next issue will totally suck and have no appeal to me at all...

Could be Better but still better then the rest

Date of Review:  May 7, 2000
Review: Rolling Stone magazine is a great magazine. Although it was better when it focused on just rock music and those who help create the music. It's downfall is due to the recent public need for "boy bands", and "pop icons". This has lowered the...

A legendary mag coasting on its arcane reputation

Date of Review:  Dec 12, 2002
The Bottom Line: Incredibly awful nowadays, a must to avoid except for comic relief.
Review: There was a time when Rolling Stone was THE music magazine. Jann Wenner and company championed the great counter-cultural music of their era, and while they probably weren't ever truly 'underground' they certainly were doing something important. Of...

Rolling Stone: The Literary MTV

Date of Review:  May 11, 2000
Review: Rolling Stone: The Literary MTV

There was a time when I wouldn?t dare compare Rolling Stone to that mockery of a network, however, a recent lack of credible material has led me to make this association. When you finally wade through the...

The Music Generation

Date of Review:  Dec 19, 1999
