Product Review

An Incredibly diverse image making machine !

by   sakinaw ,   Feb 19, 2004

Pros:  Focus assist, fast autofocus, great winder, no more lost darkslides, extreme macro capable, Schneider lenses.

Cons:  Heavy, need to buy the masterware to adjust advanced settings. Otherwise a great machine.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

Leading ergonomic design has always been the domain of Rollei, ever since the TLR days. So why should this camera be any different - and it's not! The body just makes sense. Everything is where it should be and you can figure all the controls out quickly so you rarely need to take your eye off of the viewscreen, allowing you to concentrate on getting the right image.

The focus assist is spot-on and the auto-winder makes for active photography that can be spontaneous, something I rarely had when I used a Hasselblad - since sold and not really missed after using this camera for 3 months.

The camera is big and heavy but is very well balanced. I am not afraid to put it in a backpack and use it as the perfect travel photography companion. Now if I add a few more lenses, then trip planning will become more important as there is a limit to how much weight you can pack up a mountain.
