A Review of Resistance: Fall of Man
Date of Review: Jun 25, 2007
The Bottom Line: I would recommend purchasing this game, because you will most likely play the multiplayer for awhile. This should hopefully hold you over until more games trickle out for the system.
I have been playing this game for approximately two months now and I am having great fun with it. The fact that it is one of the only good launch games for the PS3 really boosts its likeability, however that should not detract from the fact that it is still a great game overall.
Graphics:
The graphics on R:FoM are good, but not great. While they do look very nice, they do not feel good enough to be a truly next-gen title. 1080p would be nice for those of us with the capability, but being a launch title, it is understandable that it is missing.
Levels:
The level designs are pretty good overall, with plenty of variety. While there is some interactivity in the levels, most of them are overly static.
Storyline:
The story itself is fun and well done, with an interesting twist on the past. While it is interesting and well told, it is a little bit too short. Playing straight through on easy, the game can be beaten in 6-8 hours.
Online/Multiplayer:
Luckily the online multiplayer is fun and exciting, which keeps the longevity of the game up. The only problem I have with the online portion of the game is that there is no way to sort ranked games, so you just play randomly assigned games. The co-op mode in this game is quite exciting if you have someone to play with. My girlfriend and I had a blast playing through together.
Overall:
Overall I would give this game a rating of 8.5 out of 10. If this game were pitted against many of the other incredible looking games coming out in the near future it would probably not have fared so well, but since it is one of the only really good launch games, it enjoys success.
